A Few Simple Ways to Bounce Back In Life
Why are things so difficult?
The amount of stress and frustration that one can go through is a lot but at a certain point, it becomes annoying. You may feel like you don’t have what it takes but you really do. You’re able to bounce back, you’re just not being open to it.
Giving up and letting life take advantage of you sounds scary and is very easy to do. The only way you’re going to be able to escape this is if you start taking yourself seriously. You have to look within in order to find the answers that you need, not the answers that you want but the answers that you need.
There have probably been times where you have thought that things couldn't get any worse. They either did or they didn't but either way, you were able to bounce back somehow. Many of us think we’re strong but only on certain occasions.
It’s not that you’re not strong in some circumstances but that your spoiled when it comes to choosing which battles you want to fight. I’m guilty of this too, there are sometimes where I feel like failing a test purposely for school simply because I don't think I can pass it.
In order to be strong in all battles, you’re going to need to practice. Suffer while you’re practicing and then be at peace when the battle is going on.
There will be times where life knocks you down and you have no choice but to bounce back either because you still want to be living or you have people to live for. Instead of being the one that never gets up ad lets life beath them down every chance they get, you’ll need to learn more than one way to bounce back.
There are many processes that you can learn to regain confidence and push yourself through life’s many obstacles.
What are you going to do the next time you’re dealing with a tough situation?
You understand that giving up is no longer an option, so you have to fight. At times it may feel like you’re fighting yourself but it’s just your mind trying to take control of your actions. Whether you’re fighting yourself or somebody else’s negative comments about you it’s important to know that you can bounce back at any time as long as you’re willing to put in the effort.
Stop complaining and start listening
Complaining is so convenient, isn't it?
It’s ok to complain sometimes, especially when you're venting to somebody else, but after a while, it can become exhausting.
Complaining feels good at the moment but what is it really doing for your life?
It doesn’t fix your problems it only makes them more detailed. It’s good to have your problems in detail sometimes because it lets you focus on what you need to actually fix in your life. Being able to focus on one thing at a time when it comes to your problems is a very crucial step when learning how to make those problems go away.
Another good step to take is being able to listen.
If you spend all of your time complaining you will miss some important advice that somebody is trying to give you or you will miss what you’re telling yourself. Your friends and family are people who don't want you to be sad, they want to see you happy.
It may be hard to listen to them when having a conversation about how your car got a flat tire. They may be trying to tell you certain things to make you feel better but you don't hear them because your current problem is more important than what they have to say.
Also, if you’re complaining too much then you may be missing out on opportunities that could potentially change your life. Some opportunities are intimidating because they require stuff that may strike fear into you, instead of complaining look at the end goal and how it could benefit you in the future.
When you’re frustrated, have a small back and forth with yourself in your head. The goal of this silent conversation is to figure out why you’re frustrated and what you can do to change it. We’re our own biggest critic so, what you tell yourself eventually becomes your reality whether you like it or not.
What is going good in your life?
You’ve probably heard this before but not everything is as bad as it seems. No matter how bad you think your life is going, there’s something good that's going on.
Whenever I find myself questioning life I ask myself what’s going good. I do my best to start with something basic like breathing, with breathing I’m still alive, and then that transfers over to other things like my sense of smell, touch, and sight.
If you were to remind yourself more of the good that is in your life then you will find that life really isn't that bad and once you learn that life doesn't totally suck, you can then bounce back much easier than the past you. The secret to being a happier person is to realize what you have and to make the most of simple moments.
When you’re walking around your home or even outside, try to admire some of the little things around you. If you’re inside look at the different pictures that are hanging from the wall or the color of objects that are laying on the table.
If you’re outside, look at the color of the sky, breathe the fresh air and listen to the bird's chirp. Or if you’re in Florida like me, try to find some way to be happy with the constant downpour of rain every five minutes. Even telling yourself small, peaceful statements like “This is nice,” will help you to bounce back from whatever brought you down.
Lastly, ask people how their life is going. Listening to other people's problems and even listening to their accomplishments will help you feel better about how you’re life is going as well. Try doing this with a friend or somebody close to you on a daily basis, you don’t have to compare your life to theirs but just remind yourself that if they’re doing ok then you’ll be ok too.
Focus more on your passions and personal hobbies
When we’re frustrated with life, we tend to use that energy for self-inflicting pain. It’s better to use that psychic energy into something that brings us motivation and happiness. Making time for hobbies on a regular basis will help you to stay optimistic about life, the same goes for your passions as well.
Your hobby may be your passion which is fine too, as long as it’s something that is helping you keep your head up. You deserve to have the opportunity to bounce back, you don’t want to stay in a rut your whole life right?
If you’re somebody who likes to exercise then develop some small workouts you can do anywhere at any time. That way when life hits you out of nowhere and there’s not a gym around, you can go to those small workouts to put yourself in a better mood.
If you're somebody who likes to play videogames, you can do the same by downloading some mobile games on your phone for when you’re not home.
It’s good to use your frustration towards things that have the potential to change your life. If you have a side hustle that you’ve been working on, you can use any stress that you have towards making that business better and more profitable.
Dealing with stress can be difficult at times and that's something that you’re going to have to get used to, but not every one of those situations necessarily has to be stressful.
Bouncing back is a skill that should be used in order for you to be a more productive and grit worthy person. Bouncing back is supposed to help you become tougher and more accepting of the many obstacles that life gives you.
It’s good to have fun and accomplish small goals when you can, this is another reason why you should focus more on your passions and hobbies when wanting to bounce back in life.
Life is hard and it is challenging but there are more good moments than you think there are. Start making wiser decisions when you want to give up and that feeling of hopelessness will go away. I’ll leave you with a quote from Robert T. Kiyosaki that says
