Everything is moving so fast, here in the U.S., places are starting to open back up, and mask mandates are being lifted in certain states. People are getting back to work and before we know it, everything will seem like how it was before.
Of course, things will never be the same but it’s almost safe to say that the world has adjusted to this virus. In the midst of all these people who have either lost themselves or found themselves, congrats to the people who have found themselves but what about the people who didn’t.
Even before the pandemic life was moving fast and a lot of us were having a hard time keeping up. You probably lost yourself due to everything that’s going on in the world and in your personal life. Have you ever asked yourself where you were and why?
Your life is a mess and things just seem out of place for some odd reason. It’s not that your external world is a mess but your inner world is. You’ve set out goals for yourself to accomplish and while taking on those goals you ran into obstacles.
Obstacles that required a lot more work than you thought. What’s crazy about these obstacles is that they come by surprise. Right when you think you have your hand on the wheel and you’re in full control, you hit a bump in the road that changes your direction and you now have to take a new path.
It can be a rough experience for many people because it’s shocking, it’s something that you’ve never seen before. What are you supposed to do? You need to simply take a breath and realize where you are. Yes, you may have an obstacle in the way right now but what about the journey before that obstacle occurred?
Look how far you’ve come and look at why you even started this journey in the first place. This could be the case for a fitness goal, a business goal, and even a relationship goal. It’s not easy out here, which is why you need to bring yourself back to center when nothing is going your way.
Accept That You’re Lost
It can be hard to accept that you’re lost in life right now, many people are as well, they’re just not willing to admit it. Even some of the people you see at work every day are lost but they’re working through life just like you are. This is where connections come in and you can feel a little bit better about your life.
You’re not alone in feeling lost, as a matter of fact, you can ask any of your friends if they feel lost and after a brief moment of silence they’ll say they are too. Feeling lost is normal, especially when you’ve been doing so much growth over the years.
Your mind is constantly changing and adapting to new situations. Change is never easy and it’s the only way you know you’re still alive. Without stress and anxiety from time to time, we’re just floating in space, this could lead us to live life without any purpose and any goals.
So many of us want to live without stress and anxiety but the truth is you need those things in order to feel fulfilled. That’s right, even some of the world's most peaceful people deal with stress but it’s their willingness to overcome that stress that makes them feel fulfilled.
When’s the last time you’ve overcome an obstacle? How did it make you feel when you were the winner? The more things you accomplish in your life the better you're able to deal with stress because you’ve done it before. Stress comes in waves, so some waves are bigger than others but you have to remain prepared.
One of the first steps of being prepared is to accept that you’re lost and that you don’t know how to ride that wave. You may look at the people around you that need help as well but in order to help them, you have to help yourself first.
How is a defeated man supposed to help another defeated man? There are some ways like showing encouragement and providing help when you can but people need to be helped by someone who knows what it’s like to be helped.
This is why people hire therapists and life coaches for certain periods in their life. This is not a “soft” thing to do, instead, you’re giving yourself an advantage by asking for help because you’re doing something that not many people are willing to do. It’s a risk but it’s one worth taking.
Meditate Right Away
Meditation is a key that should be used to unlock any big doors in your life and it’s also necessary for bringing yourself back to center. There’s no better way of communicating with yourself than meditation. When you sit down to meditate, you want to make sure that you’re in complete silence.
Sometimes a quiet environment won’t be available to you when you want to meditate so you can listen to meditation music while in session. When your eyes are closed you want to let your mind wander and think about whatever it wants to think about.
Remember, this particular meditation is for bringing yourself back to peace so don’t worry about focusing on your breath or any body parts specifically. Next, you’re going to want to look at your life from a birds-eye view.
Ask yourself questions like “How did I come this far?” “What’s my story?” “What is my purpose for being here?” You can start reflecting back to your childhood and slowly start to make your way up to the age you are right now.
Look how long of a journey that was, don't you think after all that you’ve been through you can overcome a few more obstacles? You’ve done things in the past that you thought were impossible to do at first like riding a bike, learning how to swim, and even passing multiple tests in school.
Your past life has influenced you to be where you are today so the decisions you make from here on out will mean a lot more once realizing this. All of this will be going through your head while you’re meditating and you will see that you are exactly where you need to be in life right now.
After doing this a few times a week, your mind will start to feel more balanced and your path will get more clear. You’ll be back in center once again.
Stop Rushing Everything You Do
Your everyday actions determine the state of mind you’re in too. Start slowing down your physical movements just by a second, don’t become a sloth but take your time with what you do.
Even when in a rush to work or wherever remember that you’re a peaceful being and that making sure you’re prepared to wherever you’re going is important.
When you take your time with everything you do and you give complete focus to those things one by one, you don't have to worry about being late anywhere.
Don't think about being late because the more you think about it, the more you’ll put yourself in that position. Move with a sense of purpose and look at how important the quality of what you’re doing instead of the quantity.
Even when it comes to writing this article, I’m doing my best to take my time typing every word and think about the next sentence I’m going to write. This is to make sure that I’m writing with intention and also knowing that my words can potentially help someone who is reading.
The stillness in you want’s to help you become a better person. When you stop fighting that stillness, you come back to center with your reality. I’ll leave you with a quote from Jared Brock that says
“Inner stillness is the key to outer strength.”
