Having a New Look On Life

Your current perspective is begging for a change

Do you ever catch yourself looking at the world in a negative way? It’s not that you want to be a negative person but life hasn’t been going your way as of recently. This an okay feeling to have for a few days but you should be doing all that you can to get out of those feelings.

Sometimes, you need to stop and look at your life from a wider view. You’ve become so used to looking at the world in a negative way because you’ve been surrounded by negative energy for a long time or one day you probably got tired of being positive.

These things happen because you don’t take time to stop and think. You don’t stop because you don’t see anything blocking you necessarily, since life is going the way that it usually does, you don’t enjoy the positive times as much as you would like to because you know more negative ones are ahead.

This is a very self-destructing way to think and is the reason why so many people are depressed. Your perspective on life matters and it’s what makes you either a positive or negative person.

In order to be more positive, you need to take time for yourself and really enjoy life. Whether you’re doing something once a month or once a year, there should be a time set in a place where you intentionally work on your perspective.

Get out of your head and look at what’s going on around you. Instead of focusing on everything that is going wrong, focus on everything that is going right in your life. You’re alive, you’re breathing, you have friends and family to talk to if you really needed to.

Some people are not as fortunate as you, it could always be worse. These are the thoughts that should be in the back of your head when you start to feel like you’re having a negative look on life. This mindset isn’t easy to maintain, you constantly need to work on your mindset so that you can have it programmed to positivity whenever life is giving you a hard time.

Enjoying Your Days Off

Work is a crucial part of our lives because we spend so much time doing it, even if we don’t have a job that we don’t like we still have the opportunity to have a day off every now and then or have some time off in between shifts.

These days should be focused on the recovery of your body and your mind. Usually, on your day off, you probably spend a lot of time doing things that are not necessarily making you a better person.

Of course, you need to enjoy yourself on these days but there should be some time where you’re resting and getting your mind right. On my days off, I like to start my morning off with a meditation and have a mental list of things that I would like to do that day.

Some of these things will include getting out of the house or getting some sleep. These are just two things that are enjoyable for me on my list but throughout the rest of the list, I have things written down like prayer, meditation, and reading.

These three things are what help me to make sure I’m having a positive perspective on my life. Now, when getting out of the house, you want to have a change of scenery. This doesn’t mean taking a road trip every weekend but going somewhere that you’re not usually able to go to during the days you’re working.

A couple of good places to go are the mall or the park. This gives you the chance to be around other people (socially distanced of course) and you get to look at everything moving around you.

When you’re at work you may not look at your customers the same way you look at people in the mall. There’s something fascinating about seeing other people enjoying their day off and walking in different directions to different stores. It’s just a reminder that we as humans have come a long way from the caveman times.

When going to the park you interact with nature and it helps you get some fresh air that you may not get during the week while you’re at work or at home. Getting out of the house is something that everyone should take advantage of but should also be done safely because of the time we’re in now.

Do Your Research

How often are you doing research? You probably have questions about different situations you find yourselves in daily. How much do you actually know about the place you’re working at other than how much you’re getting paid. Your view of the world can become a lot bigger by doing research on everything that's around you.

Some things you experience shouldn’t be questioned but you can do your research on anything you want to nowadays. You need to become a sponge, be a student of life, and learn as much as possible because you are surrounded by different objects and people every day in your life, so the more you know the more informed and cautious you will be when surrounded by these things.

Other than the job you’re working at now, is there something else you want to do or you have in plan for your future? This can be a side hustle, a passion project, or even a dream that you’ve always had. When we involve ourselves in the thoughts and activities we put ourselves in a zone of doing everything that we can to make those dreams become our reality.

This requires research, how much do you actually know about your dream job? Do you even know where to start when looking at a potential path to get there? When you do research on your dream job you will naturally feel better about yourself and the world because you’ve taken a step in the right direction.

Even doing research on random things can be an enjoyable experience like where your favorite celebrity is from or where your ancestors are from. Doing research like this makes you smarter than the person next to you and also makes you prepared for any conversations that you have with people. The more research you do the more conversation starters you will have in your back pocket.

Self-Motivation

In order to have a different perspective on life, you need to be motivated enough to do so. There’s no greater source of motivation than from yourself, even though this can be the hardest place to get motivation from it is the best.

What’s interesting about being self-motivated is the process of actually finding out why you want to do something. At times, we get influenced by others or we get really good advice from others that immediately allows us to start making a change in our lives but it doesn’t last very long because they're not next to us every day in our ear telling us what we need to do.

So, if you want to be constantly motivated then you need to look to yourself. You have a fire in you that is waiting to be lit and sometimes hitting rock bottom is the wake-up call that we need to change our perspective on life.

It’s not too late to change your perspective on life, it takes time but with the right amount of focus and effort it can be done and you will see the difference.

The only person that’s stopping you from having a positive outlook on life is you. Keep putting in the work to change your perspective and each day will seem like a gift. I’ll leave you with a quote from Irving Berlin that says

“Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it.”
