Having a Warrior Mindset
Stay still at all times
There are days where you don't feel like doing anything and that's completely normal. It’s not normal to not do anything at all, it’s not normal to stay in bed all the time.
You have to have a warrior mindset, this means you have to be willing to work for what you want no matter how bad you don't feel like doing anything. The way you develop this mind is by having routines and sticking to that routine daily without anything getting in the way.
Now, you want to do this for a period of time where you can see progress but it’s good to switch up your routines a little bit so that the process doesn't get boring.
What are you going to do, starting today that will allow you to have a stronger mindset? If you’re feeling tired, take a break from your work and get active. Sometimes all we have to do is get up from our seat for a second so that the blow can run through our body.
I get tired a lot but the way how I’m able to keep getting my work done is by having this mindset 24/7. It takes time to develop this skill and truth be told, this skill never stops growing.
You will face challenges at times where it’s too much for you to handle. You get down on yourself for that moment but that obstacle comes again in your life and you’re able to tackle it with ease this time.
What you want to do is stay focused no matter how hard things get, take care of your priorities first, and when you’re able to catch up, do the work. Yeah it’s going to suck for a little bit because you’re already tired from the day before but you have to push through, you just have to.
So, the best way to develop the mindset is by pushing through everything you do, if you end up falling asleep, wake up and keep going. Many people can't develop this mindset because they don’t have the grit it takes, also this mindset is not for everyone, it’s for the people who are trying to get their life together as soon as possible.
Don’t Let Distractions Stop You
Everyone gets distracted from time to time but you can build a stronger focus by being in these situations. During my childhood, there was always some distraction around me when I was doing my homework.
No matter how much I tried to avoid it, it would just come out of nowhere. There are many people who can relate to this situation and the truth is, we’re not always going to have a go-to environment where we can focus on our work for a certain period.
From time to time, you should work in highly populated environments. I tend to write my articles faster when I’m at Starbucks in the morning. Everyone is talking, the coffee machine is going off and there just happens to be that one loud guy on the phone who doesn’t realize he’s being loud.
For some reason, I love it, it just makes me feel like I’m getting the day started at the right foot. When you’re really focused on getting an assignment done or when it’s due in a few hours, you don't let anything stop you.
This is the same mindset you need to have when facing anything. When you’re at work or working from home, don't let your phone stop you from getting your work done. Your value goes up when you’re able to focus.
Don't be one of those people who constantly complains about being too distracted. No one cares about that and you’re just another person who makes excuses.
Now, life happens and you may get an important phone call while you’re working but that doesn't happen every day. Even on your rest days, focus on getting rest, don't stop yourself by doing something that’s a waste of time like going shopping when you know you should be saving your money. Distractions don't limit you, they can actually help you!
Discipline Wins Everything
You can wake up at five in the morning, or you can go to bed at 9:00 p.m. Whatever ritual you have that has become something you must do in your life almost every single day, you’ve developed it into a habit.
You also have discipline in that area of your life but now you need to learn how to transfer it over into other areas of your life. How do you do this? Umm… by trying.
There’s no cheat code you can use to make yourself disciplined in all areas of your life. You just have to work for it, well I guess one cheat code would be to work hard.
If there’s something in your life that you want to become good at, you have to focus on it for a period of time. It’s very hard to split your focus, but you are more than capable of focusing on one area.
You don't have to focus on that one thing for your whole life but at least until you get the hang of it, but it’s hard because there’s always something that comes up.
Whether it’s something with your family or something on a personal level, you still have to have the discipline to achieve what you want to achieve no matter how hard it’s going.
Are you scared that you'll fail at something? It’s okay to be scared but it’s also okay to fail. Before you can build discipline, you most likely are going to fail a few times.
Even when you become really good at it, you’re still going to fail. Let’s say you wanted to start waking up at 6:00 AM rather than 8:00 AM? The first few days you may do it but on the fourth day, you’ll look at your alarm clock and rest for another 30 minutes. What happens on that same day? You realize you get less work done than the day before.
Express Your Pain and Then Move On
Now when you start having a stronger mindset, your emotions tend to get bottled up from time to time. In order to keep that mindset going, without freaking out, you need to express how you feel.
Whether if it’s through writing or if it’s through some type of physical movement. All of my friends express their emotions through basketball. Whenever they’re feeling unstable, they put in the group chat that they’re going to play basketball.
They never say if anything is wrong but everyone knows that “going to play basketball” is a metaphor for relieving stress. There are also some unhealthy ways to get rid of stress but these will affect your decision-making and discipline.
Always identify when you’re feeling off, take some time to yourself and figure out what you want from life. Planning and building this mindset should be worked on at least once a week.
Don't look at it as a chore, just look at as a way to make yourself better. Figure out what you like the most about discipline, keep that thought in the back of your mind to be as focused as possible.
Don’t bottle up your feelings for too long and you’ll be good, you’re going to get tired, but it’s a good kind of tired because you know you’re working hard.
Take time to rest your mind too, treat it as if it were your own child. At the end of the day, it’s literally a part of you. I’ll leave you with a quote from Dale Carnegie that says
