Basic steps to rejuvenation…

How are you feeling today? Are you feeling good, bad, or neutral? This is a question that people don’t ask enough to each other, more importantly, this is a question that we don’t ask ourselves enough.

In order to feel good daily, you have to trick your brain a little bit. There will be moments where we’re just not feeling it, the world has a significant impact on our mood. Despite whatever mood you’re in you should always base your actions on your perspective. If your perspective is good about the world then you will most likely be a more optimistic person.

There are other things you can do than just trying to change your perspective on the world, we have alternatives like listening to positive music or surrounding ourselves around positive people.

It’s hard to boost yourself up, having confidence in yourself requires a lot of energy and some of us don’t have enough energy for that during the day. Where are you putting your energy? Putting your energy towards productive tasks and stuff you enjoy is energy well spent.

You don’t have any regrets when you’re fully engaged on any project that you’re doing that requires a lot of focus. In order to boost yourself up, it’s practical to look at how you’re living your life right now. Are you doing things that give you peace and are you treating others kindly?

Live your life like you want something out of it, be calm and thoughtful when in any situation. If you recognize that you’re in a bad mood, try to figure out ways to change that. It’s not the easiest thing to do but you’re stronger and smarter than you think. You can start feeling good every day if you work on yourself or have a few go-to things that you can do that usually put you in a good mood.

Finding a Way to Laugh

Who doesn’t like to laugh, even if you consider yourself to be somebody who is serious, you can’t help but laugh at something that you think is funny. Make a mental list of things that usually make you laugh, maybe you have a certain show that you watch on Netflix or a funny Youtuber that you like to watch that usually puts you in a good mood.

Talking to a close friend on the phone can usually bring you a good laugh as well. If I’m not watching something comedic on YouTube then I’m most likely listening to a podcast. This is another source you can use to put yourself in a happier mood.

We don’t make enough time for ourselves daily, being able to fix this will give us a better chance of being in a better mood than usual. You can have a laugh at any time of the day, you can bet tired and still have a good laugh. Laughing is a simple way to regain energy, it makes you change your perspective and develop a smile that you didn’t know you had.

Smiling instantly puts you in a better mood whether it’s a forced or genuine one. Don’t look for ways to ruin your feeling of realness, appreciate a good laugh when you can, and don’t fake one if you don’t have to.

A small, subtle laugh in the elevator with your boss can make the conversation go a little bit longer but at the end of the day can make you feel horrible. There are even times where we want to laugh but feel like we shouldn’t. Be aware of what makes you laugh and start adding that to your daily routine. It doesn’t have to be a laugh that puts you on the floor but a laugh that allows you to escape reality for a few moments.

Working On Something You’re Passionate About

Knowing your purpose truly is tough to decypher but having a sense of purpose can take you far in your everyday life. People complain about not knowing what their purpose is but that’s ok, the human race has more than one purpose. One of those purposes can be personal but another one is just that you’re human. Your purpose is to live and to be yourself. That’s a purpose that everyone has in common.

Even if you don’t like your job right now or you’re having trouble figuring out what you want to do, do something because somebody else may not do it as well as you. If that doesn't make a lot of sense then think about what you’re currently doing right now. If you’re in school and you’re in a class with 20 people then you have a purpose to be in that class. Without you, the class would only have 19 people and it wouldn’t be complete, so if you’re somebody in a position similar to that then be the best student you can be and don’t take that position for granted.

Working on something you’re passionate about gives you more confidence in yourself because you know you’re doing the right thing, you know that all of your hard work is going to pay off one day. That in itself will help you to be more motivated and it will help you have more energy throughout the day.

Writing in my journal is something that I look forward to during my day. No matter how bad or good my day goes I know that I have a journal waiting for me on my bed before I go to sleep. Being productive gives you energy as well, knowing that you’re doing something helpful to your own life and for others is a great way to live because you don’t see energy as a little battery bar. It’s something that you know that you have and have the power over for the rest of your life.

Having a Self-Care Routine

Taking care of your body is essential for feeling good. When you know that you’re taking care of your skin and health, you will automatically feel more confident in yourself. Plus this is more time to spend alone while doing something that makes you feel amazing.

No matter what gender you are, self-care and grooming are important. Your personal hygiene is what makes you the person that you present yourself to be. If you’re not confident in your skin then start looking for little things that you like about yourself and take care of those.

Self-care can go a long way throughout your day, when taking care of your skin you feel more comfortable out in public and you feel somewhat invincible. If there is any time where you want to boost yourself up it should be during self-care.

There’s no better feeling for me when getting a haircut, I feel like a new person and I feel rejuvenated. My skin starts to look a little better for some reason and I don’t have to worry about trying to fix my hair to make it look halfway decent. When you look good you also feel good as well, it’s that simple.

Feeling good can be done with these steps and can be easy to do with the right amount of effort. If you start taking care of yourself emotionally and physically, there’s no reason for you to be in a bad mood.

I’ll leave you with a quote from Parker Palmer that says

“Self-care is never a selfish act — it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.”

A young adult who’s writing is geared towards self-improvement and self care. “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.”
