How Your Attitude Actually Has An Effect On The World

The world doesn’t hate you and you shouldn’t hate the world

We wake up with concern only about ourselves and how our day is going to go. Nobody else comes to mind when we wake up, maybe if we have kids or people that we have to take care of but our day is determined by our attitude. Only you decide how your day is going to go, you decide every morning if you're going to be in a good mood or a bad mood.

Sometimes we’re excited about the day ahead of us because we have something planned or we may have a day off from work. Other times we go about our day in a more negative light because we either have work or we have a lot on our to-do list.

The attitude that you have on the world matters, it affects other people whether you realize it or not. We have to at least try to be more positive towards other people and ourselves daily. It may be hard to do at the moment but it’s for the greater good of the world.

People depend on Chick-Fil-A employees to provide great customer service and to give their guests positivity. If certain workers there are not being respectful or are in a negative mood then it can cause that franchise or that location to lose a customer. There are consequences to putting out negative energy into the world and there are benefits to putting positivity in the world.

Do you need the two to have balance in your life? Not necessarily, but there will be times where you will be in a good mood and remember times where you weren’t which will make you appreciate positivity so much more.

Every person has a purpose in this world and it can be hard to figure out too many but one thing that everyone can keep in mind is to spread positivity wherever they can. Just because you’re in a bad mood doesn't mean that everyone else has to be.

Even when you’re in a bad mood, you start to feel even worse when somebody reciprocates that same energy onto you. Let’s look at why and how your energy actually matters in this world, especially during times like these.

Watch How You Talk to People

Do you feel like you talk to people with respect and positivity? Not saying that you have to but it’s something to think about. Sometimes you will catch yourself in a conversation that you didn’t want to be in. What do you do then? Simply embrace it and use it as an opportunity to practice your generosity towards others.

Many people (including myself) tend to take things the wrong way when spoken to. A manager may want their employee to do something for the company but because that manager didn’t say “please” and “thank you,” the employee may feel like they’re being controlled.

We need to watch the way how we talk to people, even if we think that what we said wasn’t negative, another person might think so. This doesn't have to prevent you from being yourself but using simple words and being more direct can actually help a statement come off as something that is not as negative as you may have thought it to be.

People will judge you off of your actions and your words as well. People observe how you talk to others and how you treat others. If you see a customer yelling at a sales associate because of a mistake then you will think of that customer to be crazy or delusional.

It’s our job to always be kind to the next person, even if they’re not giving you that kindness back. Not because we want to be seen as the bigger person but because it’s the right thing to do. Be more observant the next time you talk to your friends and family versus a stranger.

What did that stranger do to you?

What gives you the right to talk to them like you are?

Learn from your mistakes, talking back to a person in a negative way will not make the situation better it will only make things worse. Do what is right and work on having more conversations that include positivity.

What Energy Are Your Putting Out

No one likes a negative Nancy, start putting out good energy into the world. The same energy that you would want to receive from the world should be the same energy that you’re putting out.

Have you ever met someone who likes to be negative?

When in elementary school, I use to think that many of my teachers liked to be in a bad mood, the only reason why they were was that they weren't getting the respect that they deserved from students. It’s much easier to be negative than positive. With all of the things that are going on in the world right now, it’s easy to become anxious and depressed.

But, just because it’s easier doesn't mean that it will make your life easier. Negativity has a chain effect with everything that’s going on in your world. When bringing this back to students, when one student receives a bad grade on a test, they may look at everything else as bad. They start to worry about their future being ruined and how their relationships might end up.

This goes to show that your reaction to negative energy being put out into the world actually does matter. If you look at every loss as an opportunity then your life will go much smoother because you’re not making excuses to get to where you want to be in life.

There will be moments in the future where you'll be upset but don’t let that one moment ruin your whole day. Think about the energy that you have within you. You have the potential to become someone who is constantly filled with good energy, don’t bottle it up and keep it only for yourself, spread it out onto everyone, and watch what the world will give you in return. The world will return the favor, you just have to walk into it.

Even the small opportunities that are presented to you can have a big impact on your life, be thankful for the positive energy that you do have, and use it wisely.

Get Out of Your Head

The world doesn't revolve around you, even if you try to live and do what’s best for you, you have to understand that there are other people in the world who have the same mindset. You can’t constantly be in your own head about every little thing that upsets you.

Positive energy comes from within and the only way to give it out to other people is by thinking about them and not just yourself.

Having a tough day at work?

Well, think about everyone else who is having a tough day and think about those who are currently looking for a job.

It’s ideal to work on the relationships that you already have in your life now. This is a good starting point when trying to fix your attitude towards the world. Check up on your friends more than you do now and try to help them as much as you can. Of course, you have your own goals at the end of the day but it doesn’t hurt to make time for other’s goals as well.

Take some time to think about your attitude, what attitude towards the world do you want to e remembered by. It’s ok to worry about yourself but spend less time doing so. I’ll leave you with a quote from Pharrell Williams that says

“Gratitude is the attitude.”

A young adult who’s writing is geared towards self-improvement and self care. “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.”
