Planning, Does It Really Matter?

Your map to success may be outdated

Even when we think we have an idea of what life is going to hit us with next, everything seems to take a turn. Whether it’s for better or for worse, life always takes us by surprise. We like to blame the external world for all of our problems but it’s evident that these problems come from within.

Our ego is too strong and we let it get in the way of reality. Planning your journey to success can be a very life-changing experience but does it really matter? If fate already has a plan for us here on Earth should we be trying to create our own plan that goes against nature?

This isn’t necessarily going against nature but it helps us keep our life organized. Especially when we feel like we can’t figure out our purpose here on earth. There are so many things to take into consideration when creating a plan for your future success.

For one, you don’t know what the world will be like in the future, our perspective might change of what success really is. Second, we may change our minds about what we want to be successful in.

When I was younger, I always told myself that I wanted to be a police officer. Looking at my life now and with everything going on in the world at the age of 21, I can confidently say that I no longer would like to be in that career.

The world is changing every day and we learn something new about it daily as well. What’s stopping you from making a plan? Nothing, you just have to take into consideration how your life is going to be a few years down the line. It’s impossible to predict your future but if you stick with your pan for long enough, then nobody will be able to stop you.

Planning Makes You Motivated

When it comes to planning, you have to have an idea of what you want to do. This idea can come from anywhere but it usually comes from something you’re really passionate about. Some people have an easier time than others when it comes to finding their passion.

For the people who are having a hard time figuring out what their’s is, start trying different things. It’s okay to not know what you’re truly passionate about, these ideas come to us at different times in our lives and that’s the hardest thing for us to understand.

We see singers, influences, and athletes who had a plan from the jump but what about us? How was it so easy for them to figure out what they wanted to do? Your best bet is to start trying things that you fund interesting, no matter how hard it seems.

Give each of these things a specific amount of time out of your life. See where each one takes you and when you find the best solution, start planning around that.

This plan is what’s going to get you out of bed each morning and help you get through tough moments in your life. When you have a plan, you’re more likely to not be as bored as you are now. You know you’re on the right track every minute and it’s something that starts to grow on you.

Let’s say that you want to take a break from your passion, eventually, you’re going to have a feeling of guilt because you know what you should be working on. You’re not going to want to take any chances on your plan so you find a way to adjust your life to that plan.

Motivation is what you need in life, you need it for dealing with obstacles that seem too difficult to overcome. When you have a plan, you’ll always have something to work on, you won’t feel lost as you did before. In order to start seeing progress from your plan, you have to give it some time, we’re talking not only months but years for the process to build.

Wanting to Give Up

So, you end up making a plan, and it actually looks pretty solid, what now? Get started as soon as possible, you created a plan for a reason and that reason is to take action.

Now, as you start to get more comfortable with your plan and getting used to what you have to do in order to make that plan become effective, you’re bound to hit a wall or many different obstacles.

The question that you start to ask yourself is “ Was my plan structured properly?” There’s no such thing as a perfect plan, so get that out of your head but this is entirely normal to think. Life will see that you have put a plan into the universe and it wants to challenge it.

As we all know, life isn’t fair and it will be hard at time times, especially when we least expect it. This is where you need to start putting trust into your plan because you’re going to want to give up.

You’re used to it by now because you’ve been doing it all your life but you’ve never had a real plan like this before so what do you do? Instead of going with the flow, you stick to your plan no matter how hard it gets because it’s a promise you’ve made to yourself in the past, present, and future.

This is all just sacrifice right now. As the late rapper, Nipsey Hussle said “Instead of trying to build a brick wall, lay a brick every day. Eventually, you’ll look up and you’ll have a brick wall.” Tests will start to come into play and you have to be patient with yourself and the process.

Who said that your plan was going to be an easy solution to a life-long problem. You’ll get things thrown at you left and right, you’ll doubt yourself from time to time but you have to stay focused. Stay focused on your vision, do so, because nobody else can see it but you.

This is what makes your plan special and this is why your plan will work out for you in the future. The plan wasn’t made for anybody else, you’ve created it this way because you know what you can handle and what you’re capable of.

Be Your Biggest Fan

You are your biggest critic and you’re also your biggest fan so be thankful for the mindset you have towards your work. No matter what your passion is, nobody will be as passionate about your craft as you.

When you feel like your work may not be getting noticed or you’re not seeing the monetary results that you were looking for give yourself some credit. Be proud of yourself for following a plan that seemed too hard to maintain or to create.

You’re doing something that not a lot of people have the courage to do so give yourself some time to get better and don’t beat yourself up. Believe in yourself, even when people tell you that you can’t do something or they laugh at you when telling them what you want to do, believe in yourself and laugh with them.

This humor will come from you knowing something that they don’t and that's the vision of your success. Push yourself each and every day and see how far you can go. You’ll be surprised by how much you can do within a certain period of time.

Planning is the best way to figure out how you want to accomplish something for the long term. If you’re looking for a short-term solution then you may be out of luck when it comes to planning. I’ll leave you with a quote from Nipsey Hussle that says

I’m about seeing long-term, seeing a vision, understanding nothing really worthwhile happens overnight, and just sticking to your script long enough to make something real happen.”
