This Is Why People Are Happy to See You
There’s no big explanation
It’s not until you sit back and look at all the rooms you’ve walked into during your life where you start to think about people’s reactions. You get a reaction from people everywhere you go whether it’s just a stare or even if someone is nice enough to say “hello.”
Knowing that you’ll get a reaction from people despite whatever you do lets you know that you’re being watched. In order for people to care about what you’re doing, you have to do something that either adds value to their lives or something that catches their attention.
Most of the time, you’re going to want to focus on adding value to someone’s life. It can be tricky to figure out how to do this but you just need to be yourself and be observant.
Let's say you meet someone for the first time and you guys are casually having a conversation about your surroundings. One of the first things that people do when setting up small talk is they complain about something either very little or significant.
If it’s something little that’s bothering them, then the best way to help is by agreeing with them and getting into your personal reasons as to why. This gives the other person a sense of comfort when around you and you have now become someone who they can talk to without feeling pressured.
That’s where you come in and go for their contact information or at least their name to build some rapport. A byproduct of this is when they see you the next time, they will feel comfortable and greet you with excitement.
When you’re talking to someone for the first time or even years later, they already have a perception of you from when you last talked to them. They kind of know what to expect, which is one reason why first impressions are important.
If you realize that someone opens up about a significant problem in their life, think of ways you can help that person by either getting them into contact with someone who can or providing a service for them yourself. There are so many reasons why people are happy to see you but it’s mostly about the history you have with them.
