Writing does get exhausting after a while it never seems to end. One day, we can be writing with complete joy and on another day we think about giving it up as a whole. Do people really understand the trouble bloggers go through on a daily basis?
No matter what level of a blogger you consider yourself to be, you understand what a hard day of writing is. These days are usually started off with anxious thoughts about what we want to write about, how long it’s going to take to write, and just an overall feeling of not wanting to write that day.
When you’re up and coming or already established, you realize that it’s a good habit you don’t want to break. There are also tons of bloggers here on Medium and on the worldwide web that don’t post every day and are doing numbers as no one has seen before.
Best believe that even though these people aren’t posting every day, it doesn't mean they're not coming up with ideas constantly and or have stopped writing in total for the day.
You need to keep writing in 2021, the opportunity is too big to avoid. This is a year where you have time to write, you’ve adjusted to the new normal and you can now find time to write on a daily basis.
Even if you’re not getting noticed for your work now, think about the future of the articles you’re putting out now. Over time they may build up numbers or they may collect dust, that’s the risk you have to deal with when becoming a blogger.
You’ve probably noticed that many of the articles you’re most proud of are not your most-read work. This is simply because your readers weren’t the ones who wrote it and they may not have been able to relate to the article as much you did.
What do you have to lose in 2021 when it comes to writing? Keep writing and see where it takes you, no matter how it goes, you’re still going to learn more about the game and about yourself. So, it’s a win, win.
People Need to Read Your Stuff
Yes, people need to read your stuff, you provide a different perspective that no one has in your writing. Many people like certain blogs and platforms because of the kinds of articles and opinions someone can have about a topic they’re interested in.
If your blog posts aren’t reaching thousands of readers a month, there’s not much to worry about. As a blogger, you know that it takes time for your work to get noticed, especially if none of your posts are going viral.
What about that one person who reads your article and gives you good feedback? It may not be a thousand people but it’s still someone’s life who you’ve impacted. Learn how to be ok with that one person, they are more valuable than you think.
Think about it like this, let’s say you age a speech in front of a thousand people and no one clapped for you when you were finished. You may feel hurt for a little bit but eventually, life goes on and you have the opportunity to try again. Also, after you gave your speech, one person comes up to you and tells you how much they loved your speech. At this moment, you stop thinking about the other 999 people that were in the audience and appreciate that one person even more.
Translate this into your writing more and the pressure of having to do good on every single post will go down. Write for that one person or even write for yourself, you should be writing to make yourself happy and to make others happy as well. Don't forget to make yourself happy first when it comes to your writing.
You need to be happy with the work your producing or else you’ll not want to do it anymore. Imagine how many more articles you could write this year if you were to be happy with what you write. You’ll start to look at the numbers less and worry more about how you can improve.
A Great Year to Hustle
Make writing your side hustle for 2021, learn how to monetize the work you put in when it comes to your writing. This will give you something to look forward to each and every day when you come home from your other job.
Many writers have already found their purpose in life and they just don’t know it yet. When it comes to monetizing your content, you need to understand that it takes time or if you’re already getting a lot of recognition for wherever you do your writing now, then your writing will probably be easier to monetize than most people who are just beginning.
If you love to write or even if you like it, try to find a way this year into where you can make it into a career and into a full-time hustle for you. This is the perfect time to start, there already a lot of struggles people are dealing with this year but this is what makes the journey of becoming a successful writer beautiful.
There are people giving up every day when it comes to posting their blogs and there are people who are just getting started. Which side of the fence do you want to be in. By the time this year is over, you’ll know a whole lot more about blogging and about what you actually like to write about. Take your writing to a new level.
If you started writing last year or years before, look at how you can make your writing better than the year before. How can you really elevate your writing to a level where you even surprise yourself?
Writing in this day and age is common if we’re being honest but not your kind of writing. Your writing is unique and it is screaming to be heard by others. With this process comes time and familiarity with the platform you’ll be posting on. So, look at sites like Medium or other blogging platforms to where you can test the waters. Give yourself this year to become the best writer that you can be with no regrets.
It Keeps You Sane
Writing has probably been one of the few things to keep you sane during these rough times, but it’s getting the job done. Would it really be smart to let go of it now, when it has given you so much life? Appreciate your writing often because you never know when the ability to write will be taken away from you.
Keep this in mind when you don’t feel like writing, we all need a bit of motivation in our lives so make sure you can give it to yourself when the time comes. Writing is an avenue to get your thoughts out to the world, it doesn't matter what topic your writing on. You’re getting your creativity out there, which is good for the world.
Now, things will get bumpy on this road to a successful writing career but you were built for this. There’s a reason why you’re the only one out of your friend to take your writing to the next level. Something stood out to you about this opportunity, so take advantage of it, it’s that simple. Do what makes you happy and for many, writing seems to be the thing that does it.
Writing doesn’t get old, there are books you can read from decades ago that still have relevant information that applies to the modern age. So, what do you want your writing to be remembered for?
Writing is fun and should be enjoyed all of the time but in all honesty, it does get hard. What you do in these hard situations is what determines your destiny for the craft. I’ll leave you with a quote from Richard Bach that says
“A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit.”
